16-year-old Isha Chirimar is growing all the time. With an increasing number of artistic skills, computer skills, and followers on Instagram, the multi-hyphenate creator is on the up-and-up in the world of Gen Z.
In her busy world brimming with expectations waiting to be met, Chirimar shares her experience trying to balance her passions and her obligations. “Honestly, this is one of the things I struggle with the most. If you know me, you know I run on almost no sleep, coffee, and many times, stress—all with the end goal of hopefully fulfilling my aspirations for my future,” she explained. “I have high aspirations for college. I’ve often hit creative ruts during which I can’t seem to create anything at all, and I stop doing anything artistic,” she added.
Chirimar’s gracious attitude ushers her to jump at every opportunity available to her—including this one.
“The piece I submitted titled Ephemeral was initially inspired by some past experiences in my life which are also referenced in my poems,” she said. “The idea of something being fleeting and short yet so incredibly beautiful while it existed is one I dwell on frequently, simply because many elements of my life seem to be this way. I was also obviously heavily inspired by T.S. Eliot’s ‘The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock,’ a beautiful poem I could spend days discussing. The emotions and vivid imagery present in this lengthy poem captivate me to the extent of which I create artwork about it.”
“Eliot’s beautiful words can be found throughout this piece, taken out of context and restrung together to create my own meaning, in accordance with my idea of something being ephemeral in nature, yet explosively amazing. This piece, again, reflects my constant need for including narratives in artwork: it opens with this cinematic scene of a couple on a roof, yet goes to doubt and questioning, confusion, and limitation.”
Chirimar is growing all the time, but she’s not growing alone.
